For those modelers looking to upgrade their Tamiya 1/32 F-4 C/D Phantom kits, Master Details has a couple detail options that will really enhance the kit. First up is an excellent pilot figure. The figure is molded in the seated position and is exquisitely sculpted and cast. What sets this figure apart from other manufacturer, however are the options included. You get no less than 4 separate heads to depict the pilot in the following configurations: No mask with visor up, no mask with visor down, mask on with visor up, mask on with visor down. The figure also comes with a separate oxygen mask and two different sets of arms. A decal of a variety of scale unit patches is also provided to produce a first class figure. At $14.95, this is an incredible deal. I have seen single figures with no options go for $35 and up!
A very nice touch is a color painting diagram and two color photographs of an actual pilot. Master Details really goes the extra mile with their products by thinking ahead and providing information that the modeler needs. I wish every manufacturer followed this one stop shopping approach. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next.
A couple of these figures placed in your F-4 or A-10 will really provide a sense of scale you will still be able to see a lot of cockpit detail.
The second option is the AN/ALR-69(V)-2 RWAW modification. This set included a new nose cone, tail cap, IR seeker and decals. All the parts are cleanly cast in good quality cream colored resin. For those seeking to add this option, this set is an excellent choice and at $12.95 again a super value compared to other sets of similar scope on the market. The inclusion of the decals is a nice touch that again signals the commitment to accuracy and quality form this manufacturer.
